The GE Foundation Scholar-Leaders Program in Vietnam is a unique program that provides financial support and skills development opportunities for accomplished first-year undergraduate students who are pursuing degrees in the fields of business/management, engineering or the natural sciences at the specific universities listed below, and are residents of Vietnam.

Why Apply?

• A $1,150 per year scholarship for the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th years of your undergraduate program
• An opportunity to be mentored by a GE business leader
• Participation in GE Foundation Scholar-Leaders activities, including a specially designed leadership development seminar
• Participation in community development projects

Who Can Apply?

Students must be attending the following institutions to be eligible to apply:

1. Can Tho University
2. Da Nang University
3. Foreign Trade University Hanoi & HCMC
4. Hanoi National Economics University
5. Hanoi University of Technology
6. Hue University
7. University of Economics, Ho Chi Minh City
8. Vietnam National University, Hanoi
9. Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City
10. Nha Trang University

Only applicants who meet the eligibility criteria described below will be considered for the award.

Further Requirements Include:

• Are Vietnamese citizens
• Are first-year full-time undergraduate students at a participating Vietnamese university
• Are studying business/management, engineering or the natural sciences
• Have high academic performance, as demonstrated by first semester university results and high school transcripts
• Demonstrate financial need

If you satisfy all eligibility criteria outlined above, click on the link at the bottom of the page and complete the online application. The application form including essay must be submitted online by 11:59pm on April 30, 2012. All Supporting Documentation must arrive via post by April 30, 2012 to:

Supporting Documentation – In addition to your application form, the following documentation is required:

1. Certification Page (signed & dated)
2. Completed Finance Form
3. High school transcripts – official copy, may be sent directly by high school
4. First semester university results – official copy, may be sent directly by university
5. Certified copies of awards, honors or extracurricular activities you have listed in this application
6. Proof of difficult financial situation issued by local authorities (if applicable)

English translations must accompany any documents not in English.

Incomplete application materials or application materials received after April 30, 2012 will not be considered. Application materials will not be returned to applicants.

What is the Selection Procedure?

A selection committee will evaluate all applications. Each applicant’s motivation and academic potential will be assessed. You will be informed in June 2012 about the success of your application. Selection decisions are final. There is no appeal process.
