Application Details for Students in South Korea

The GE Foundation Scholar-Leaders Program in Korea is a unique program that provides financial support and skills development opportunities for accomplished second-year undergraduate students from recognized institutions who are pursuing specific degrees listed below in the fields of engineering or natural science and are Korean residents.
Why Apply?
- A W3,000,000 per year scholarship for the 3rd, and 4th years of your undergraduate program
- An opportunity to be mentored by a GE business leader
- Participation in GE Foundation Scholar-Leaders activities, including a specially designed leadership development seminar
- Participation in community development projects
Who Can Apply?
Only applicants who meet the eligibility criteria will be considered for the award. Students must be in their second year of undergraduate studies in the following fields:
- Engineering (computer, mechanical, chemical, electrical, electronics)
- Natural Sciences (chemistry and physics)
Further Requirements Include:
- Korean citizenship
- Enrollment in the second-year of study at an approved college or university and majoring in an eligible field of study
- A minimum GPA of 3.0/4.0, 3.225/4.3, 3.375/4.5 or better grade point average for all completed undergraduate study
- Demonstration of financial need

The application form including essay must be submitted online by 5:30pm EST on April 12, 2012. All Supporting Documentation must arrive via post by April 12, 2012 to:

Supporting Documentation – In addition to your application form, the following documentation is required:
- Online application form – printed from review & submit page (1 copy)
- Essay (5 copies)
- KAEC Supplemental Form (5 copies)
- Certification Page (signed & dated)
- High school transcripts – official copy, may be sent directly by high school
- College or university transcripts – official copy, may be sent directly by university
- Evidence of enrollment at a college or university
- Three letters of recommendation
English translations must accompany any documents not in English.
Incomplete application materials or application materials received after April 12, 2012 will not be considered. Application materials will not be returned to applicants.
What is the Selection Procedure?
A selection committee will evaluate all applications. Each applicant’s motivation and academic potential will be assessed. You will be informed in June 2012 about the success of your application. Selection decisions are final. There is no appeal process.
