GE’s scholarships for the best students

This year’s edition of GE Foundation Scholar-Leaders Award was dominated by students of Lodz University of Technology.
“Our students has won 10 of total 15 scholarships” informs Ewa Chojnacka, spokesperson of Lodz University of Technology. On behalf of GE Foundation, an independent commission from Institute International Education has evaluated and selected winners based on a combination of excellent academic accomplishments, remarkable extracurricular activities and other skills.
Second year students from Lodz University of Technology, Warsaw University of Technology, Gdansk University of Technology, Wroclaw University of Technology and National Louis University from Nowy Sacz can apply for GE Foundation scholarships.
“An independent commission selects the best 15 students from all the applicants. The winners are awarded a €3000 scholarship (€1000 annually for three years). This money may help her or him to build their professional career, constant development and achieving new personal and career goals” says Ewa Chojnacka.
Winners will also participate in supplemental activities including an international Leadership Development Program and a “Shadowing-day” spent with a GE manager. Students are also expected to engage in community volunteerism as part of their award.
“GE Foundation Scholar-Leaders Program is the first of its kind offer for students from Central Europe. After a big success of the first edition in Hungary, the program was launched in Poland in 2003, Czech Republic in 2004 and Romania in 2006” informs Chojnacka. She also adds that every year, students from Lodz University of Technology are being a large group of all awarded students in Poland.
“Nine of our scholars study in International Education Centre. Three of them study on faculty of Telecommunications and Computer Science: Magdalena Bocheńska, Robert Borkowski and Aleksandra Chećko. Another three study Computer Science: Piotr Dworzyński, Robert Rosiak, Grzegorz Słodkiewicz. Justyna Kowal and Anna Szypszak study Business And Technology. Jacek Nagórski study Mechanical Engineering and Applied Computer Science. This great 9 is complimented by Tomasz Stachlewski who studies Theoretical Physics” says Chojnacka.
Four scholarships were awarded to students from Wroclaw University of Technology, and one for students from Warszawa, Gdansk and Nowy Sacz.
The fifth anniversary GE Foundation Scholar-Leaders Program award ceremony has taken place on April 21st in Warsaw University Library.
