Application deadlines vary across regions. Please check the country from which you are applying for application deadlines.
Who can apply?
Students in the first year of an undergraduate degree program in business, finance, management, economics, engineering, or technology focused programs are eligible to apply for this scholarship. Because the GE Foundation Scholar-Leaders program is tailored to meet the post-secondary goals of each participating region, the specific qualification criteria vary for each participating country. Some programs are five years in length, so please check with the participating university or region to verify if you are able to apply in your second year.
When will I know if I have been selected for the GE Foundation Scholar-Leaders program?
The Institute of International Education handles each application in co-ordination with participating universities. Processing time varies for each participating country, but you will be notified when your application has been received and is considered complete. If you have not received a confirmation of receipt within three weeks of the date you sent your application, it is the responsibility of the applicant to contact the appropriate IIE office.
What are the selection criteria for the GE Foundation Scholar-Leaders program?
Specific selection criteria vary for each participating region. Applicants are assessed on a combination of factors including academic standing, community service, letters of reference, etc. Please check your participating region for specific requirements.
What grades do I need to qualify?
Academic standing is only one part of the selection criteria and minimum required academic standing varies in each participating region. If you are in good or excellent academic standing and meet the requirements of your region, we encourage you to apply.
How much financial support will I receive?
The GE Foundation Scholar-Leaders Program pays a substantial portion of the last three years of a full-time program of study. Tuition fees vary from country to country; please check the region from which you are applying for specific scholarship amounts.
How much will the Leadership seminar cost?
The GE Foundation Scholar-Leaders Program pays for all accommodation, meals and transportation costs related to the seminar.
How many students are accepted in the GE Foundation Scholar-Leaders program?

What kind of community service do I have to do?
We leave that up to you. You can create your own project, or participate in an existing organization that you believe in. Some students have co-ordinated fundraising events, others have done volunteer service for local organizations that need their expertise and energy. You know your community better than we do. Whether it is culture, literacy, human rights, education or some other local need, all we ask is that you become active in making your community stronger in some way.
